“We’re far from the shallow now.” That song from the movie “A Star is Born” (which I haven’t yet seen!) has been captivating me lately. At this point in life, for most of us, we are far from the shallow. We have experienced the depth of the wonder of life and the tragedy. Those depth experiences bring us to the brink and for me, it was an awareness of divine feminine presence that helped me navigate the dark waters of illness and loss. It was there that I learned even more about the importance of self care and how divine compassionate presence was the key to my own healing: *Presence with old emotional wounds that needed closure and release, *Compassionate presence with the physical pain, *Presence with a new food and exercise protocol, * Presence with the silence, * Presence with extended rest, *Presence with the voice of creativity that inspired me to write my new book last fall. In the book, I share a story about the importance of compassionate presence and wanted to include it here for you. “At nine years old, I was hospitalized for several days. My health care professionals did not prepare me for how I would feel when I woke up after the surgery. I remember lying in the recovery room, alone and in pain, crying for help. Eventually a nurse appeared. She provided no comfort and angrily dismissed my concerns. Back in that era, the hospital didn’t provide for parents to stay overnight with their children. The pediatric ward was full when I was admitted, so I was assigned to share a room with a woman who had just given birth and whose baby had died. I remember lying awake at night listening to her wail for her baby. I felt totally unprepared to console her and felt helpless to deal with her grief and my fear. When I look back on that experience, I believe it was a significant early factor in my calling to become a social worker. I wanted to be the one to provide the presence that was missing in that hospital room.” Of course at 9 years old, I didn’t know what I know now, that this presence is embodied within me, it is always available to me, I simply need to remember to reconnect with it. May this meditative video, "21 Blessings of the Divine Feminine" offer you a deep dive into inspiration, comfort and presence today! A big thank you to those who have already purchased my book!
If you feel inspired to write a review, that would be greatly appreciated! My intention for this book is to inspire you with ideas for bringing the divine feminine presence into your life and to those you serve through the power of imagery. You can find it on Amazon in Kindle and paperback. |
