A Daily Healing Practice
The swirling thoughts and memories we carry with us that cause us pain can feel overwhelming at times. We may resist feeling our grief because we fear that the feelings will be too difficult to manage.
Guided Meditation can be a companion for you as you enter into the silence and begin to create a different relationship with the challenges in your life. These meditations help you to relax your body and then offer you many different ways to access the inspiration and aha moments that come with being in the alpha brain wave state where you gain a broader perspective on your life. My intention is to bring the nurturing voice of self compassion to you and to support you in connecting with visual, auditory, olfactory and kinesthetic images that bring you peace. I am pleased to offer many portals through which you can settle in and receive. You may choose to journey into various healing places like the ocean, lake, river or mountains. Perhaps you want to focus on belly breathing or progressive relaxation or meditations that put you in touch with your Guardian Angel or your Inner Wise Woman or Inner Child---they all are written to help you let go of fear and reconnect with hope. Guided Imagery is powerful because it involves using your imagination and your senses to support the healing process. To learn more: just visit www.HavenOfRelaxation.com |
Guided imagery offers a simple, yet powerful way to develop a daily healing practice. The use of music and a guiding voice effectively helps the listener become accustomed to "quieting the mind"--which may feel like a daunting "task" for some.
Guided imagery is easier than meditation for most because it offers a companion, a guide that supports you as you enter the silence within.
Guided Imagery helps you establish a daily healing practice.
This is important because:
•A daily healing practice will help you improve your relationships
with yourself and others.
•It will help you become calmer and be able to
manage stress and its impact on your body.
•It will help you access your wise woman and better understand yourself
•It will help your concentration.
•It will deepen your listening skills and your ability to understand and handle conflict
A Daily Healing Practice can be done in 20 minutes a day.You will see the benefits of giving this gift to yourself. It will help create a lens through which you live your life.
Listening to Guided Imagery will help you create a habit----it may take up to 66 days to establish a habit so it is good to listen on a regular basis as your new lifestyle pattern is imprinting itself into your cells.
In Charles Duhigg's book, The Power of Habit, he provides the neuroscience details behind how we form new habits. These three aspects of behavior related to developing a habit are worth noting:
1. It is important to choose a cue that signals you to choose a new behavior. If you set aside the time to listen to imagery and set up your audio player near your bed--you will be reminded to listen before falling asleep.
You could create a ritual of lighting a candle or bringing aromatherapy into your bedtime ritual so that a cue becomes a consistent reminder for listening to your imagery.
2. Keystone Habits. When you create a new ritual, you may find that other behaviors seem to automatically shift as well. This is the power of setting into motion a new way of living your life. If your sleep improves once you start with listening to imagery, because you are no longer falling asleep "marinating in your anxious thoughts" as Wayne dyer says--then your energy will improve and enable you to more regularly incorporate movement into your life. Once you are moving more, your awareness of eating a healthy diet may become more prominent.
So, allowing this "keystone" habit" of listening to guided imagery may set in motion a ripple effect.
3. Imagery helps us to visualize change--at a deep level. Once you have a kinesthetic, auditory, olfactory and visual awareness of positive change, you are more likely to "act as if" the change already occurred because it feels like you have already accomplished it when you do it in your imagination. Public Speaker, Craig Valentine says: "I visualized so much that by the time I got on stage it felt like "deja vu". I love that quote. It perfectly captures this concept of
'acting as if".
Let "acting as if" give you an empowered sense of hope even when you can't yet know the outcome. Use these imagery journeys to tap into your inner wise one who knows you best. You wise one will remind you to "act as if" until your hope returns.

"On Monday night, I listened to your CD. After the Progressive Relaxation and Belly Breathing, I was so calm.
I haven't felt that calm in a long, long time. Then, I listened to the remaining tracks and fell asleep. I slept the entire night. It was amazing! It provided new hope for help through this illness. It also encouraged me that you can help with hypnotherapy." |
Our unconscious mind is where our creativity resides. It is where all of our memories are stored as images.
All of the cells in our body are effected by our pituitary gland. The pituitary hormones are controlled by the hypothalamus. This is the part of our brain that regulates our heartbeat, temperature and blood pressure.
Our immune system is controlled by the messages it receives from the body, from both our conscious and unconscious mind.
What we tell you bodies influences how our immune system works. When we are depressed or filled with feelings of powerlessness and resentment our immune system can become compromised. As it receives a message of"giving up" we may experience powerful physical symptoms --like pain and fatigue.
Guided Imagery and Hypnotherapy are powerful ways to help us communicate and express repressed emotions and help us visualize changes in our thinking and feeling. Once we are truly present with our own feelings , we feel heard. Feeling truly heard enables us to let go and move on and give our body messages of empowerment and the motivation to heal.
In the relaxed state of hypnosis and guided imagery, we are more receptive to new ideas and thought patterns. We are able to release negativity and move forward with greater clarity and calm--setting the stage in our body for deep healing.
