Emmet Miller, MD
"When I first introduced the tools of deep relaxation, guided imagery, and mindfulness to the fields of medicine and psychology it was difficult for people (especially professionals) to recognize that the vast majority of our diseases, illnesses, and dysfunctions were the result of our mental images, and that guiding those images wisely was central to the healing process.
Now, a mere 50 years later, even medical schools are teaching mindfulness, meditation, and guided imagery. Now the thousands of health and helping professionals working with these tools have a wonderful new resource in Glenda’s entrancing new guidebook for learning how to write and record powerful image experiences.
I am proud that she mentions my work as being an early inspiration, and it warms my heart to see the release of this thoughtful, well-organized, loving, and spiritually inspired guide.
In it is a key to the immense healing and transformation that our world so desperately needs at this very critical moment in time to touch the soul, enliven the spirit, and awaken the healing force. Read and embody the wisdom and artistry at the heart of this desperately needed work. . . and discover the amazing changes as you pass these powerful mind tools on to those you serve. And by extension, those with whom they interact.
May its sincere and caring message travel far. Thank you, Glenda."

“Glenda Cedarleaf fills a real gap in the guided imagery and mind-body literature, providing expert guidance to clinicians on how to go about making personalized meditation recordings for the people they serve. She addresses questions on what constitutes desirable, effective content; and she also advises on technical and engineering issues that come up in a home office studio – everything from how to create effective imagery for managing a health problem, to what sort of microphone and filters to use.
I recommend this thoughtful, experienced guidance for use by psychotherapists, meditation teachers, chaplains, and wellness, sports or personal coaches – in other words, anyone who wants to incorporate their own recorded guided meditation audios into their practice, to enhance their impact during “off hours”, with the help of these empowering, adjuvant tools.”
~Belleruth Naparstek, ACSW, creator of the Health Journeys guided imagery audio series, and author of Invisible Heroes, Survivors of Trauma and How They Heal.

It is an honor for me to write the foreword to Glenda’s book on Guided Imagery Meditations.
Glenda and I have worked together over the past 11 years. We have also journeyed together through the peaks and valleys of the human experience with clients and sharing in each other family’s events and personal challenges and triumphs. She has helped my clients with her scripted and custom Imagery recordings to help them work through challenging times and move further on their paths to healing and wholeness. I am also grateful to her for making a special recording for my mother during a particularly challenging time after her husband of over 50 years, my beloved father, died.
To me the real testament to Glenda’s work is how she uses it on her own healing journey. She used her work to overcome a major medical issue her doctor thought would be very serious and lifelong. So glad she had to fortitude and grace to creatively move to what I call Real Health. Well done, despite the difficult situation she was in and the lack of faith her doctor had for her to return to wellness.
I know the value of Guided Imagery from ancient and modern approaches. I train in the age-old traditions of Chinese Qigong and the prayerful dhikrs of Divine remembrance of Sufism. I am also influenced by the healing imagery work Marty Rossman, MD and Jeanne Achterberg PhD in my early studies in holistic medicine over 25 years ago. One of the key tenets of Sufism is to break all of the pictures we have made in our life that cover over the Truth of who we really are. What a great way to do that through Glenda’s Guide for Writing and Recording Guided Imagery Meditations.
The science is in on guided imaging. Research shows it works. I know it works from my 30 years of clinical work in holistic medicine, including working with Glenda.
Here is a great opportunity to learn how to rewrite the scripts in your life that lead you to incomplete or false pictures of who you really are and lead you down paths of limited health, limited relationships, and a limited life.
Take your chance with Glenda's book. Be guided and learn how to guide yourself to what is better.
Blessings on your health journey.

“Glenda Cedarleaf offers a practical and inspirational window into the transformative world of accessing the unconscious for deep healing. Her expertise as a Heart-Centered® Hypnotherapist, trained through our Wellness Institute, shines through in her scripts. She provides an enlightening guide to creating meditation scripts that will inspire and teach therapists ways to incorporate meditation into their work with clients. Her script: “When You Are Hurting: Inner Child Alchemy” is a great example of how she captures this foundational healing process with wisdom and compassion.”

My scripts are based on these types of imagery as described by Belleruth Naparstek.
In this book you will find descriptions and examples of each of these types. As you read the scripts, you will see how this imagery is exemplified and learn ways to create your own version of this powerful form of meditative guidance.
The kinesthetic experience of imagery in meditation is what makes the journey so compelling and effective!

"A Guide to Writing and Recording Guided Imagery Meditations"
They tried to bury us, they didn’t know we were seeds.
~Dinos Christianopoulos
Turning 65 this year, along with experiencing the hurricane that hit our town in September 2018, gave me the impetus to review and edit
my scripts, so they could have their own home in the form of this book.
My intention, at first, was simply to compile, edit and publish these scripts. Soon, I realized that it was important to write about what I had learned about imagery and meditation these past 20 years, so that the book could be a true guide. Then, it became clear that my personal story was so intertwined in this path of learning about imagery, that the book would not be complete without including some of these experiences.
Even though my own journey is unique, it reflects the universal themes that we all struggle to navigate. In reexamining the puzzle pieces of my earlier years, I can now see how they eventually fit together, bringing coherence and meaning to experiences that, at the time, felt fragmented, overwhelming, and unwelcome - especially the times when I felt buried in my grief, and unable to find my way.
"The wound is the place where the Light enters you." - Rumi
My wounds have truly been where the light enters. In the dark places, when I wondered if I would ever come out of the tunnel, I kept digging deep, down through the darkness and the fear. As I made my way through the tunnel, a part of me died. Eventually a stronger, wiser spirit emerged, with the help of those who guided me, and the endless flow of the light of the Divine. This descent and ascent is the core of this transformational path and the perspective from which we all offer our unique lens for helping others. I hope that some aspects of my story will, in some way, resonate with you and further inspire you in continuing on your own healing path to help you support those whom you guide.
An important theme throughout my life centers on being a highly sensitive person. This characteristic has offered me, on the one hand, great gifts of awareness, and on the other, a vulnerability in dealing with the challenges that have unfolded along the way. Thankfully, these gifts and the necessity of navigating these challenges, have strengthened me, helped me find my voice, helped me heal, inspired the writing of my meditations, and enriched my therapy practice.
Leaving a legacy is our gift to ourselves and to others. I hope that this book will contribute to sharing the powerful practice of guided imagery meditation with our world. I am grateful for the legacies of those who have gone before us. In the stillness, I like to visualize these ancestors eagerly ready to share encouragement and wisdom for navigating this mystery of life.
It is this inspiration to which I refer in the meditation script “Morning Infusion: Come Rise Up Again” (included in the 70 scripts of this book). This excerpt captures my own experience of accessing and embodying inspiration.
"Like a newborn fawn I am finding my feet.
I rise up again, gradually opening my closed eyelids to the brightness of the sun.
This cave, in which I have cocooned myself, has felt safe.
It has encircled me like the protective shell of a fragile egg, and here in this vulnerable place, hope has felt absent, and pain has been the dark coat that is just too heavy to continue to wear.
Today I open to a renewal and ask myself, what brought me back to the magic that stirs inside?
To all those inner resources that fill my soul; my mentors, my loved ones, my awakened experiences, sacred beings, empowering memories, beautiful healing places, a full buffet of inspiration awaits me once more.
And the key that opened the door to my soul was the music.
Oh the music, songs that soothed me as a child, invigorated me as a teen, inspired me as an adult.
The music finds it way into my soul and reminds me of the real truth of my life.
It stirs the soup within me, where it all comes together: the broken fragments of my heart, the loss and fear and grief and the inexplicable joy, all come together.
Then, something sacred happens, with the stirring of the soup.
I am given sustenance, and transformation begins.
I wash my face and look up into the mirror and see into my eyes.
“Where have you been? Thanks for coming back into the light, for re-igniting your life force, to receive what is here for you.”
I rise up again.
The looping thoughts may come and go but the wise being sits here observing patiently, calling us to come back home, and come back home. to come sit in the lap of this compassionate presence who reconnects us with the creative flow that awaits us.
We just have to remember to reconnect, to plug into this eternal force.
We have what we need to do this, one moment at a time."
Finally, I thank you for reading this book and wish you much peace and fulfillment. These two beautiful quotes are a fitting conclusion.
"In the depth of your hopes and desires
lies your silent knowledge of the beyond;
And like the seeds dreaming beneath the snow
your heart dreams of spring.
Trust the dreams,
for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.
Only when you drink from the river of silence
shall you indeed sing."
~Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet, (Alfred Knopf, Inc 1973)
"Go forth into the world in peace.
Be of good courage.
Hold fast to that which is good."
